hi everyone
this is actually my second attempt at painting digitaly …
my first painting video was of a portrait of an imaginary woman and it got removed for copyright issues ( i have used the song “give in to me” by Michael Jackson and Slash as background music )
anyway this is a painting of one of my favorite musicians of all time – Kurt Cobain RIP
other than his brilliant passionate and energetic music
i appreciate Kurt Cobain for his honesty
of course i didn’t know the guy personaly and he does have some negative sides like using drugs and all but from everything iv’e seen about him and read about him he portraits a very honest and humble person
and these are some of the qualities i value the most
RIP Kurt

Is this an original or a copy of art?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have a pencil picture that has a signature in the right bottom corner with 78 circled below it. Is this a copy of an original or how do I find out? I don’t think it is worth going to an art dealer. Garage sale item.
I looked up the artist name, K. Maroon but I didn’t find anything.

first of all, just because it has a 78 doesn’t make it a lithograph. many artists number their works. i would just take it to a dealer. you never know what you are dealing with and they may be able to save you a lot of time. but, don’t just sell it to them without researching first.

How can you become an actress if you live in Regina Saskatchewan Canada?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have always wanted to be an actress and I think I’m ok at it but I live in Canada and I can’ really go to Hollywood or anything. Any suggestions?

The first thing you need is experience. If you are still in school, audition for school plays and join the drama club. You should also try out for local community theatre shows. Take as many acting classes as possible. Read some books on acting (those by Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Kristen Linklater and Jack Poggi are great). Be sure to get the support of your friends and family, they can help you a lot.
If you feel you are ready, look up auditions on http://www.actorsaccess.com/index.cfm?fl…
http://www.backstage.com/bso/index.jsp
http://actinginfo.blogspot.com/
All three websites are reputable, legitimate and free. You generally need a head shot and resume (this website has great information on creating a resume http://www.bestsampleresume.com/acting-r… When you have enough experience you should begin to look for an agent. Look up agents on the SAG website.

When painting a mural does it matter the paint you use?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

What do I need to be aware of, there may be two different surfaces that I am painting on. One is wall board the other painted brick. They both have a latex paint on them so can I use the same acrylic paint on both or not?

Depending on the exposure to UV light. If this is outdoors, you should pick medium to high quality professional acrylics that have high degrees of Colourfast.

You can also use cheaper quality paints and then coat the whole mural in a UV protectant. Either way, you need to use something that can stand up to sunlight exposure.

How to become a makeup artist in the Adult film industry?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I was just wondering if anyone knew how I would go about getting a job as a makeup artist for the adult film industry. I hear they make a good amount of money.

Well, the first step is learning how to do professional makeup for film and video.

The Makeup Artist is responsible for applying makeup and/or special makeup effects to the on-camera talent so that they appear in the “look” approved by the Director. Most of the time, beauty makeup is applied, which removes imperfections so that the result makes the talent appear better than someone could in real life. Some of the time, however, special effects makeup techniques are used to add imperfections, to enhance the reality of life or to create something wholly unnatural. Most Effects Makeup Artists can do both, but not all Beauty Makeup Artists are qualified to do effects.

You don’t just apply the makeup at the beginning of the day and forget about it. Maintenance before every shot is just as crucial, so you’ll be spending a lot of time on set as well as in your trailer. During the day, you are the Actors’ mirror. They have enough to think about, such as remembering their lines and hitting their marks. You need to instill in them the confidence that they won’t have to worry about how they look.

You must get some experience first before looking for paid employment. Find student films or indie features to work on (non-"adult") so when you do look for actual paying jobs, you’ll have a resume that shows that you have done this before.

The "adult film industry" is mostly centered in the San Fernando Valley just north of Hollywood. Once you are confident in your abilities and have a resume, contact the various adult film production companies and let them know who you are and that you are available. It is likely that they’ll already have people they like and use all of the time so you may not get in right away. Just keep calling (without being a pest) while you wait for the opportunity to open up (when someone gets sick or retires or there is a lot of work going on and not enough Makeup Artists).

Who was the first painter who decided to wear white pants?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Who was the first painter who decided to wear white pants?

I don’t think you’ll find the name of a particular painter.
The idea of white workwear possibly comes from sailor’s galligaskins;
"Sailors may have played a role in the dissemination of trousers as a fashion around the world. In the 17th and 18th centuries, sailors wore baggy trousers known as galligaskins. Sailors were also the first to wear jeans — trousers made of denim. These became more popular in the late 19th century in the American West, because of their ruggedness and durability."

"Galligaskins, the wide breeches worn by seamen in the old sailing warship days, also known as petticoat-trousers. They were most prevalent in the 16th and 17th centuries, but did not finally disappear in warships until the beginning of the 19th century."

What is the best way to keep track of your paintings?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

As an artist, I create many paintings of various sizes and subjects. How can I create a code or system to track each piece so that when looking at my inventory list, I know which one it is?

Catalog your works with a digital image and set up a numerical system that corresponds to the date finished. This allows you to catalog your works visually and keep things findable. I’ve organized just this past year and it has done wonders for my professional productivity.
